1955 Marusan, Troy Ruttman #7 Jet Racer in Original Box
Superb tin litho friction drive racing car complete with original photo box featuring 1952 Indianapolis 500 winner Troy Ruttman on the cover. Intricately detailed red, white and blue striped torpedo style racer features large centrally mounted stabilizing fin, two multifaceted plastic jeweled exhausts, helmeted driver, embossed cockpit, celluloid windshield and heavy tread solid rubber tires. Makes a loud whirring noise while moving. Generates sparks (although it needs flint and holder). Solidly built toy appears to have never been played with. Wonderful original box with divided cover; half illustrated showing #7 Racer and half showing actual photo of Troy Ruttman posing in his racing car. Side panels show photo's of 16 additional Indy winners along with their driver's names and top racing speeds. Original Japanese export approval sticker is still on the side of the box.
